Basement conversions in London, designed and built by Suddeco
Basement and cellar conversions in London: underpinning, tanking, head height, light and access planned before any digging starts. Designed, approved and built by Suddeco.
Indicative render, confirmed on surveyFrequently asked
Is my cellar worth converting?
It depends on head height, damp and access. An existing cellar with reasonable height converts well; going deeper means underpinning, which is a far bigger job. We check head height and structure first and tell you plainly which of the two you have.
Do I need planning permission?
Converting an existing cellar usually does not need it. Excavating to create a new basement, or adding a light well at the front, usually does. We check your address and show you what has been approved nearby.
How do you deal with damp?
Tanking or a cavity drainage system with a sump and pump, chosen for the ground conditions rather than by habit. It is designed in at drawing stage, because it cannot be added convincingly afterwards.
Does Suddeco do the building work itself?
Yes — all of it. Suddeco designs, handles planning and delivers the build with its own project management.
