Orangeries in London, designed and built by Suddeco
Orangeries in London: a brick-and-glass room with a lantern roof, built to be used all year rather than a conservatory that is too hot or too cold. Designed, approved and built by Suddeco.

What is the difference between an orangery and a conservatory?
An orangery has solid brick piers and a flat perimeter roof with a glazed lantern in the middle; a conservatory is mostly glass. That difference is why an orangery holds its temperature and gets used in February, and a conservatory often does not.
What does an orangery cost?
Typically £2,000–£3,000 per m², or roughly £40,000–£75,000 built, depending on size, glazing and the finish. Our cost guide breaks it down, and a free concept from your address gives you a figure for your own house.
Do I need planning permission for an orangery?
Often not — many fall under permitted development on size and position. Conservation areas, listed buildings and anything at the front usually do need it. We check your address and show you what has been approved nearby before you commit.
Does Suddeco do the building work itself?
Yes — all of it. Suddeco designs, handles planning and delivers the build with its own project management.
