How do I know what size beam I need?
From a structural calculation, not a rule of thumb. Span, load from above and bearing all decide it. Our engineer sizes it and issues the drawing with the padstone detail, which is what building control checks.
Do you supply and install, or just install?
Both. We take the sizes from the structural drawings, order the steel, and install it with the padstones, connections and fire protection the design requires.
Does steel need fire protection?
Usually yes — typically boarding to achieve the required fire resistance. It is a building regulations requirement, and it is often what gets missed when steel is installed by someone working without the drawings.
Does Suddeco do the building work itself?
Yes — all of it. Suddeco designs, handles planning and delivers the build with its own project management.
